We tackled this project in two stages. First, we did all of the required in-wall and in-ceiling wiring while renovation contractors worked to revamp the townhouse. We then returned months later when construction was finished, to install the electronics and accessories.
We started with the centerpiece of the home theater system, a 65-inch Sony Bravia XBR-65X930D Frameless 3D 4K Smart TV which perfectly fits with the stunning, modern look of the home’s main living space. We then installed a top-of-the-line wireless Sonos Soundbar under the HDTV to provide high-quality audio at the front of the room; Sonos Play speakers were mounted in the back of the room, and a Sonos subwoofer and Sonos amplifiers completed the surround-sound installation. We used a Middle Atlantic RCS-1824 floor-standing rack with glass doors to hold the system components, and added a Panamax power filter to protect them. The video and audio experience provided by this installation was ideal.
Next came the rest of the townhouse. We installed Polk in-ceiling speakers and amplifiers in the kitchen/dining area, the bedrooms and the bathrooms, along with two zones of outdoor audio for the roof deck and patio. Since much of this system relies on wireless components, reliable Internet connectivity was required throughout the home. To provide it, we installed a Luxul XWS-2500 wireless controller kit, complete with two high-power access points, to ensure perfect Wi-Fi signals everywhere in the home.
For Theater-Quality Audio, You Have To Position Your Speakers Properly
