DTV Installations planned and installed an entire audio/video, lighting, Wi-Fi and outdoor surveillance system for a church in Flushing, New York, and completed the entire project in just one day. An Epson PowerLite Projector and 186-inch motorized Vutec projection provided unparalleled streaming video viewing in the main hall, a full-featured Luxul Wi-Fi system with router, wireless controller and five access points ensured complete connectivity, and the installation was completed with URC controller systems, high-end Episode in-ceiling speakers, a Lutron RAdio RA2 smart lighting system and wired 4k outdoor security cameras.
A church in Flushing, NY contacted DTV Installations to inquire about a projection screen system and complete network and audio/video installation for the church. Owner John Lysy did a site inspection and consulted with the Pastor and church officials, who decided on a full-building upgrade for its main hall and satellite rooms, plus smart lighting and an outdoor security monitoring setup. After agreeing on the parameters and a budget, we got to work.
Church Main Hall Video Installation
The main hall of the church, used for both services and meetings, was equipped with a state-of-the-art video system.
On the rear wall, we mounted an Epson Pro Cinema 4855WU projector, ideal for large, bright and open spaces. It is able to display sharp, Full HD 1080p video with advanced processing for a perfect viewing experience. That was teamed with a Vutec L4065-116BWW1 projection screen, mounted on the ceiling above the front wall. The Vutec is an amazing 186 inches in size, flexible, tab-tensioned and able to be retracted or opened with the push of a button.
The combination is perfect for displaying in-house or streamed video, or any other visual aids, even in the brightest ambient light.
Church Audio System Installation
DTV Installations also set up a complete digital 7.2 surround-sound audio system, highlighted by the use of 16 Episode 250 Commercial Series two-way in-ceiling speakers installed both in the main hall and in satellite rooms throughout the church. These speakers are a step up from traditional in-ceiling speakers, delivering smooth, high-frequency performance with no distortion. Power amps were also installed where necessary.
We completed the system with full audio announcing capability with five microphones, five separate volume controls, and a complete Lutron Radio 2 lighting control configuration with more than 70 separate smart dimmers throughout the space.
The entire project was completed in just one day, with deep equipment discounts provided for all equipment thanks to our status as authorized dealers. The Pastor – and his parishioners – were all delighted with the new, robust and modern systems installed by DTV.
Control Room/Studio Setup
A complete control room and studio was installed as well, with all cabling running to this area for centralized control of the system.
It included a Strong Signature Premium top-shelf ventilated rack enclosure for equipment storage with 2200 pound capacity, easy access from the sides and rear, and integrated and adjustable wire management and rails.
A high-performance URC MRX-10 Advanced Network Controller was used to interface with all controllers, handheld controllers, keypads and mobile apps, ensuring full whole-church automation. It was complimented with a URC TKP-2000 graphical in-wall color touchscreen and keypad, able to control every system in the church from audio/video components, to lighting and thermostats.
Networking, Wi-Fi & Security Cameras Installation
The entire system that we installed is based around a robust Wi-Fi mesh network, so that was the first item we had to tackle and we did it with high-end Luxul components.
The Luxul XWS-2510 wireless controller kit was used because it is able to easily configure as many as 16 different access points, roam seamlessly between them, and create a secure guest network for church members and visitors.
We added three Luxul XAP-1510 high power dual-band access points and two Luxul XAP-1240 wireless outdoor access points, to ensure 100% whole-building coverage, both inside and out. The system was completed with a Luxul XWR-3150 Dual-Band Wireless AC3100 router.
This full-featured installation allowed seamless connectivity and roaming throughout the church, VoIP communication, and streaming capability to be used in the main hall. We added pipes and outdoor CAT5 Internet cable, to be used by outside surveillance security cameras.
