Installing a complete, modern home theater and audio system to match a townhouse renovation is the type of project we love at DTV Installations. We ran all the cables during construction, then returned to install a 65-inch Sony frameless 4K Smart TV, Sonos soundbar, speakers and amps, along with Polk Audio in-ceiling speakers throughout the home and in two outdoor areas. Internet connectivity was upgraded with a Luxul wireless controller kit and several access points, and an advanced network controller provided the client the ability to control everything through one remote control.
We’re always pleased when someone contacts us after reading all of our glowing reviews on Yelp. One was a prospective client who had just purchased a beautiful townhouse with exposed brick and was planning a renovation. He wanted to include a brand-new home theater system along with audio for the home’s indoor areas, outdoor patio and roof desk. We were happy to provide a free DTV Installations consultation and estimate, and once we finalized the details we were able to get to work.
We tackled this project in two stages. First, we did all of the required in-wall and in-ceiling wiring while renovation contractors worked to revamp the townhouse. We then returned months later when construction was finished, to install the electronics and accessories.
We started with the centerpiece of the home theater system, a 65-inch Sony Bravia XBR-65X930D Frameless 3D 4K Smart TV which perfectly fits with the stunning, modern look of the home’s main living space. We then installed a top-of-the-line wireless Sonos Soundbar under the HDTV to provide high-quality audio at the front of the room; Sonos Play speakers were mounted in the back of the room, and a Sonos subwoofer and Sonos amplifiers completed the surround-sound installation. We used a Middle Atlantic RCS-1824 floor-standing rack with glass doors to hold the system components, and added a Panamax power filter to protect them. The video and audio experience provided by this installation was ideal.
Next came the rest of the townhouse. We installed Polk in-ceiling speakers and amplifiers in the kitchen/dining area, the bedrooms and the bathrooms, along with two zones of outdoor audio for the roof deck and patio. Since much of this system relies on wireless components, reliable Internet connectivity was required throughout the home. To provide it, we installed a Luxul XWS-2500 wireless controller kit, complete with two high-power access points, to ensure perfect Wi-Fi signals everywhere in the home.
For Theater-Quality Audio, You Have To Position Your Speakers Properly
The entire installation is controlled by the URC Total Control MRX-10 Advanced Network Controller system placed inside the floor-standing rack. It utilizes the townhouse’s Wi-Fi network to store and issue automation commands for all of the components we installed, and the accompanying TRC-1080 universal control allows one-touch control of the entire system – which can also be controlled via phone or tablet.
The renovated townhouse is a spectacular example of modern design, and the look and functionality of the DTV Installations system fits perfectly. The client was delighted, and we were too.
